The educational philosophy of Lyman Briggs College is based on the belief that those sharing an interest in the sciences will benefit from learning and living together. By taking many (but not all) of their academic courses in the building where they live, students stimulate and enhance each other's intellectual development and personal growth.

Lyman Briggs provides its students with a basic education in mathematics and science, within their social, historical and philosophical contexts. Students may specialize in particular sciences or move into areas that require an understanding of science.
