Graduation Certification
One of the functions each department office must perform prior to Commencement is certification that its students recommended for graduation have in fact met requirements for the degree to be granted. Each September, we send out information and forms to our potential spring and summer graduates. These forms must be filled out by the student, signed by their adviser, and turned into the Briggs Office 35 East Holmes Hall by a deadline (usually in late October/early November). Any problems can then be identified before the beginning of spring semester.

Students also need to apply to the University Degree and Certification Office at the beginning of the semester in which they plan to graduate. You can apply directly over the Web. There is a designated application deadline in order to have your name appear in the Commencement Bulletin. If you have not received materials by the end of September and plan to graduate the following spring or summer semesters, please contact us so we can get the forms to you.

University Commencement Activities
University Commencement schedules and general information are now available via the web. Students who have applied for graduation will receive information in the mail from MSU regarding commencement details, e.g., caps & gowns, usually towards the end of March.
