Lyman J. Briggs Scholarship Society

As a premier Land Grant college, MSU has always sought to make excellent higher educational opportunities available and affordable.  The Lyman J. Briggs Scholarship Society honors the spirit of our namesake and inspiration who discovered his love for the sciences in the class of 1893 at what was then Michigan Agricultural College. It supports students scholarships.
Having lost access to scholarships through the College of Natural Science, LBC has need for scholarships that are critical for the recruitment, retention and recognition for academic excellence and financial need.
Gifts to the Lyman J. Briggs Scholarship Society:
  • Support student academic scholarships through new and existing endowments.
  • Support study abroad/away academic opportunities that bring learning to life.

LYMAN J. BRIGGS EXPENDABLE SCHOLARSHIP FUND
- This fund receives gifts for student scholarships that are not designated to any specific 'named' fund. Contributions to this fund will allow the College to award scholarships to assist in recruitment of new students who may have financial needs, retention present students and rewarding academic achievement. HOWARD & JOAN HAGERMAN ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP - Dr. Hagerman is one of the pioneer LBC faculty members. He established the biology program. The Hagerman's established this award to encourage students who have demonstrated capacity to achieve educational and professional goals. Presently funded & awarding. (A5255)
PAMELA ANN MERRY SCHOLARSHIP - This is one of only a few fully funded/awarding scholarships available to LBC students. Established by Don Borseth (LBC ‘73) and Patricia Merry. Pamela Ann Merry was a member of the first class of LBC and supports greater opportunities for students to study and explore the sciences. (A5256)
DOSSER FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP - Established by Sandra Dosser Conner to honor her parents Robert Dosser & Irene Schlicht Dosser who stressed education for their children and desired to support other talented & motivated students. Sandra Dosser Conner is one of the founding faculty/staff of LBC, retiring in 1999. (A5250)
DR. RONALD C. HAMELINK SCHOLARSHIP FOR MATHEMATICS - A MSU’s first student to graduate with a 4.0 GPA and LBC pioneering faculty member, this award was established in his honor by the College of Natural Science and Lyman Briggs to support academically gifted students. (A5257)
BRIAN FALZON BOOK SCHOLARSHIP - Created as a tribute by Christopher and Denise Falzon. Awarded yearly to both an entering freshman and an entering student from West Bloomfield High School. (321)
SEAN HEALEY MEMORIAL AWARD FOR HONORS WRITING - Sean was a LBC student who died in his sophomore year due to complications associated with muscular dystrophy. Established by Diana & Patrick Healey, the award supports gifted writers and readers with a thirst for knowledge. (A525101)
PETRISKO ENDOWED SCHOLARSHIP - Graduates of LBC, the Petrisko's honor the great educational foundation they received with the desire to support students in achieving their educational professional goals. (A52526)
PETRISKO STUDY ABROAD SCHOLARSHIP - Graduates of LBC, the Petrisko's honor the great educational foundation they received with the desire to support the unique educational experience that study abroad offers. (A52527)
